Short biography

Tony Daysog has served on the Alameda City Council for twenty-two years — 1996 to 2006, 2012 to 2016, and 2018 to 2026 — and has been elected Vice Mayor three times. He was the first American of Filipino or Japanese descent to serve on the Council. Born in Hawaii in 1966 to Ricardo Daysog, an immigrant from Ormoc, Leyte, and Tsutako Daysog, a survivor of the Nagasaki atomic bomb, he moved to Alameda's West End in 1974 and graduated from Encinal High School. He holds a B.A. in United States History and a Master of City and Regional Planning, both from UC Berkeley, and works as an urban planner. In 2022 he was the top vote-getter citywide with 14,097 votes. He is a candidate for Mayor of Alameda in the November 3, 2026 election.
